Partibus Chess set
Board
  • Classic

Chaturanga, which originated in India in the 6th century, was the earliest precursor of modern chess. It saw four armies take part in the game, poised at each corner of the board. Adopting a Latin translation for the four divisions, Partibus is Bert Frank’s nod to one of the oldest versions of chess.

With a carefully thought-out combination of textures and finishes, the classic sets pay homage to one of the oldest games in existence with an exquisite chequered square board crafted from Statuary and Portoro marble.

Materials and Finish

Brushed brass pieces and coins and a chequered board crafted from Statuary and Portoro marble.

Matte finish walnut storage chest with foam inlay.

Design Notes

Exploring contemporary shapes and machined brass form, chess pieces are expressive and striking with modern, minimalist detailing.

Keep it safe and sound in the walnut storage chest, each piece has it's pride of place just beneath the board.
